About Joel Zupnick
Joel Zupnick is a seasoned healthcare and real estate executive with over two decades of experience building, scaling, and operating successful enterprises across multiple sectors. Since launching his career in healthcare in 2001 and entering real estate in 2004, Mr. Zupnick has developed a distinctive, multidisciplinary approach that blends operational expertise, strategic investment, and long-term value creation.
Mr. Zupnick began his career in healthcare by co-founding StaffBlue, a healthcare staffing firm that quickly became one of the fastest-growing providers of high-quality nursing professionals in the Northeast. He later co-founded SpecialtyRx, a full-service pharmacy serving the subacute and long-term care sectors. Today, SpecialtyRx is the largest privately owned long-term care pharmacy in the United States, serving approximately 150,000–200,000 patients a the broad Northeast to the Southwest, with regional locations in 11 states including New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Florida, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Kentucky, Alabama, Georgia, Nebraska and Texas, supporting over 1000 healthcare facilities through advanced, intuitive pharmacy technology. He also co-founded PellaCare, a homecare agency within the Visiting Nurse Service Industry, delivering essential in-home healthcare services.
Building on these successes, Mr. Zupnick expanded into healthcare ownership and operations. He currently holds partial to full ownership interests in skilled nursing and healthcare facilities across several states. In late 2020, Mr. Zupnick further expanded into behavioral healthcare.
Parallel to his healthcare career, Mr. Zupnick entered the real estate market in 2004, leveraging his deep understanding of healthcare infrastructure and operational needs. As co-founder of BerkZup Realty, a real estate investment and development firm focused on residential and commercial properties, he specializes in identifying underutilized assets and maximizing their value through strategic development and disciplined investment. By integrating his expertise across healthcare operations, ownership, and real estate development, Mr. Zupnick brings a uniquely informed perspective to every venture. His ability to identify opportunity at the intersection of real estate and healthcare has positioned him as a respected leader and investor across both industries.
